Spooky Stories

Since I joined Carl's RIP challenge, I have had a collection of spooky stories in the bathroom. Which may not be a great idea since watching Candyman. I know have to walk out of the bathroom and then turn the light off thanks to the movie. So spooky stories on top of my phobias may not be my most brilliant idea.

However, The Kingfisher Treasury of Spooky Stories is just about perfect in every way. The stories are short, not too scary (this is a kid's collection), and are entertaining. This would be a perfect book for kids as it's not so scary and at times challenges our thoughts of ghosts. For example, in The House That Lacked a Bogle by Sorche Nic Leodhas, is about a family in Scotland that has a home without a ghost and is considered Persona non Grata because of that fact.

There's a wide variety of authors, most of whom I had never read before with the exception of the Grimm Brothers. I would have enjoyed this collection as a child and also think this would be perfect for a readathon.

I know this is short and sweet but so is this book. If you have kids, this is great Halloween reading. Or grab the nieces and nephews for a few spooky tales. This is definitely a fun, quick read.
