A few thoughts on my reading for the coming, in no particular order:
- Read deliberately. Minimize the holds at the library and read from the books at the house. I have a tendency to put a bunch of stuff on hold but not able to get it read.
- Finish the Top 100 Picture Poll. I have 50 to go. I know that this will tip my numbers over my goal (85 this year). And while, I will count these to my grand total, in the end I want my total to be 85 (or more)+50 picture books.
- Work on the Louis L'Amour back catalog. I have a list of the books by year published that I have been working on. Two years ago I started reading these again and somehow I got derailed. I am, in fact, reading Sitka right now and am hoping to read at least 12 this year.
- Work on getting caught up on at least a couple of series. I am only on number 7 on the 87th Precinct by Ed McBain-this series has 55 novels! I have let a couple (or more) series go in the past few months as I have felt unmotivated and overwhelmed. It's time to get reacquainted with these guys. By the way, if you love series-mystery, historical, fiction, sci-fi-Fictfact is totally awesome and highly recommended!
- To have more fun this year. I have learned to send stuff back and know I can get it later. In fact, I have been sending a lot of stuff back as it just doesn't fit into what I want to read, or am reading at this juncture. For instance, I have Sharon Kay Penman's Lionheart at home. Looks super good but it's a bit chunky-this won't be a quick read. I am in the middle of one book, have another one at the house, plus I have another chunkster that'll be in this week. So Lionheart is going back with thoughts of another day. This is huge for me, because before I would totally stress and try to read all my library books.
In the meantime, what are you reading this week?
